Gina Glidden

I have been a member of the Centre for Research on Children and Families since 2009, and currently act as research coordinator for Support Matters!: Transitions and Connections, two studies examining the support needs of parents of children with neurodisorders. As a doctoral candidate in the School of Social Work, my doctoral research (funded through a doctoral scholarship from the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Société et culture), aims to better understand how parents of children with neurodisorders seek help for their child and for themselves, from formal and informal networks of support in the province of Québec.

Prior to attending McGill to earn my BSW (2009) and my MSW (2013) through the School of Social Work, I gained 19 years of clinical experience as a special care counsellor. During this time I had the great pleasure and privilege of working with blind and visually impaired young adults and seniors, of supporting seniors with Alzheimer’s and their family caregivers, and of teaching social/professional reintegration skills to young adults who had experienced a stroke, as well as supporting their caregivers.
